Appointments, Consultations and Fees
Making an appointment
You do not need to be referred by a psychiatrist or your GP. However, if you are claiming through your private health insurance company it may be necessary for a referral. You are encouraged to verify this before making an appointment.
Typically an initial consultation will last for one hour and subsequent sessions will last for fifty minutes.
The first appointment is an opportunity for you to tell me about what brings you to therapy and what your hopes and expectations are. At the end of the appointment I will share my initial understanding of your problem with you, and explain the therapeutic approach I believe to be an appropriate way forward. There will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have.
Attending an initial consultation does not commit you to ongoing therapy. Many people are unsure about starting therapy, and an initial appointment can help with making that decision. It will be your choice whether to book another appointment, or take some time to consider whether I am the right therapist for you.
Sessions are currently charged at £100 and are reviewed annually. Insurance fees are available on request.
I have a limited number of reduced fee appointments, which are available for those on low incomes, students and psychologists in training. Please contact me for further information.
Sessions cancelled with less than forty-eight hours' notice will be charged at the normal session rate. There is no charge for sessions cancelled with more than forty-eight hours' notice.
